FAQ
Yes. People in South Africa use Payoneer to receive payments from international clients and marketplaces and to withdraw to a South African bank account. Payoneer says it supports bank withdrawals in 190+ countries and territories, but its public pages do not set out South Africa specifically, so check the fee and rate shown inside your own account before you rely on a number.
Go to payoneer.com, choose Sign Up, select South Africa as your country and enter your details. Payoneer then verifies your identity, and may ask for ID and, for businesses, company documents. Once approved you can add a South African bank account to withdraw to.
Payoneer's pricing page (last updated 1 January 2026) lists withdrawals to a bank in the recipient's local currency at 1.2% to 4%, with a minimum fee of up to US$20 in some countries. Moving money between Payoneer balances in different currencies costs 0.50%. Receiving into a local-currency receiving account is free, and a non-local-currency receiving account is 1% (minimum US$1). There is no monthly fee, but an annual account fee of US$29.95 applies if you receive less than US$6,000 in any 12 consecutive months. Payoneer's flat US$1.50 same-country withdrawal list does not include South Africa. Your bank may also charge its own fees on top.
Payoneer says withdrawals typically reach your local bank account within one to three business days, with most arriving within two. Timing depends on the currency, your bank and the region. A newly added bank account is typically reviewed and activated within three business days before your first withdrawal.
Add and verify your South African bank account in Payoneer, choose Withdraw, pick the account and the amount, and review the fee and exchange rate that Payoneer shows. You can withdraw in rand or in another currency. If the currency is different from your balance, Payoneer converts it at the rate shown before you confirm. If a withdrawal is declined, the funds are typically returned to your Payoneer balance.
You can link a South African bank account to withdraw to, and users report withdrawing to Capitec this way. We could not find Capitec named on Payoneer's own pages, so add your Capitec account in Payoneer and check that it is accepted. Capitec may also charge for incoming international payments: its 2026 forex fee schedule lists R350 for an incoming foreign payment where the fees are shared (SHA/BEN) and R250 where the sender pays (OUR). Ask Capitec whether a Payoneer payout is treated as one.
It depends on your eligibility. Payoneer says that depending on where you are and whether you qualify, you may be offered a Payoneer Mastercard, and it does not publish a South Africa-specific card list. Its pricing shows an annual card fee of US$29.95, free standard card delivery, card purchases at up to 1.8% without conversion and up to 3.5% with conversion, and an ATM cash withdrawal fee of US$3.15 plus up to 1.8%. Check whether a card is offered when you are logged in.
Payoneer does not publish a South Africa-specific phone number or email. Use the Customer Care and Get Help link inside your account, or the Payoneer help center at payoneer.custhelp.com. Payoneer says its customer support is available around the clock.
Payoneer's withdrawal fee and exchange rate margin together can add up on larger amounts. If you are a business receiving US dollars and need rand, compare the rate you are quoted with the market rate on our dollar to rand page, and talk to us about converting directly.
